Following NC State’s 2-0 start, and in anticipation of its upcoming game against West Virginia, Wolfpack Head Football Coach Dave Doeren announced Thursday the hiring of Admiral Ackbar to help warn the players not to be overconfident.
Doeren said that Ackbar’s hiring was an exciting, and necessary, decision that would only benefit the team.
“I’ll be honest with you, I’m not sold on his football knowledge,” Doeren told reporters. “But when he speaks, everyone listens.”
“As long as we have him around to tell us whether or not it’s a trap, then there is no way we will ever overlook an opponent again.”
NC State wide receiver Emeka Emezie said the team feels better about its road trip this weekend with Ackbar in the fold.
“I mean, the dude faced down the Death Star,” Emezie explained. “Having him on our side for a football game? I’m pretty sure that’s small potatoes for him.”
“We sure could’ve used his insight against Wake Forest last season.”
West Virginia (1-1), under first-year Coach Neal Brown, is coming off a 38-7 loss to Missouri and has only averaged 13.5 points per game over the first two games of the season.
“Our running game has not taken off like it should,” Brown said. “And we’ve got a few things to tighten up.”
“But NC State better watch out. We’ll be ready, and we don’t need some stinky-ass fish dude to tell us how important this game is.”
The NC State-West Virginia game is scheduled for Saturday at 12:00 in Milan Puskar Stadium in Morgantown.
