In response to news Monday that NC State’s baseball team was not selected to participate in the 2022 NCAA Baseball tournament, many were quick to condemn the selection committee for the perceived snub.
NC State Athletic Director Boo Corrigan told reporters that he was “disappointed.”
However, others have voiced their agreements with the decision, even going so far as to blame the Wolfpack for bringing it on themselves.
Bob Dean, a longtime baseball fan, said that NC State was solely to blame for the so-called “NCAA screw job”, and that questions needed to be answered.
“We need to ask some serious questions,” Dean told reporters, “like what did the Wolfpack do to provoke this snub?”
“Were they drunk? Did they ever say ‘no’? Were the players wearing overly-provocative uniforms on the field and the NCAA selection committee just couldn’t help themselves? Was NC State alone in a room with the NCAA? They should’ve known they were going to get taken advantage of.”
Vernon Wilson, another college baseball fan and definitely not a “shamer of sluts”, went so far as to cite NC State star Tommy White as a catalyst for the snub.
“That hair, that chain, that swing,” Wilson explained. “You know good and well after hitting all those home runs looking that good that the NCAA couldn’t just let him keep going without screwing him and the Pack.”
“I’m sorry, but especially after the COVID fiasco during the last College World Series, those tarts from Raleigh were just asking for it.”
The Wolfpack finishes the season with a 36-21 record (14-15 in ACC play).
