Ladies and gentlemen, drumroll please.
The winner of the 2018 Oh We Booking It Fantasy Football league is…
ME!
*Pops champagne bottle* 🍾
(If you’re not into Fantasy Football, trust me I understand. My wife thinks I’m a dork because I’m into it, but that’s okay with me, so WOOOOOOO!)
Honestly, this post is just an excuse to share this gem from Metta World Peace, the artist formerly known as Ron Artest:
This was my week 17 lineup:
I finished with only three of the players I originally drafted: Tyreek Hill, Melvin Gordon and Mark Ingram (I drafted the Bears’ defense as well, but I dropped them/picked them up/dropped them again early in the season, so I don’t really count them).
What a wild season it was, too. I won my league despite:
1. Drafting LeVeon Bell in the first round.
2. Trading James Conner for Emmanuel Sanders.
3. Trading Josh Gordon for Carson Wentz.
4. Dropping Drew Brees for Jameis Winston, then dropping Winston for Baker Mayfield, then trading for Wentz (mentioned above), then picking Winston back up, then picking up Dak Prescott, then going back to Winston, then BACK TO PRESCOTT, and then FINALLY settling on Lamar Jackson (whew!)
What a way to end 2018.
For the first time in my life, I’m an employed, married-with-two-dogs, happy, Fantasy Football champion!
(I did win my Fantasy Football league back in 2014, but I was single back then. My wife would probably tell you that it’s amazing that I’m not single anymore…and she would be correct).
In the wake of this championship, I think it’s time for me to officially retire from Fantasy Football.
That way I can go out a winner.
But come next September I’ll probably un-retire, because I just can’t seem to give it up.
So I’ll just do my best Brett Favre impression and play the whole will-he-or-won’t-he game.
We shall see.
I’m the real winner here because I don’t have to hear about it anymore until September 😂
