Superstitious NC State Fan Takes Blame for Wolfpack Loss

Following NC State’s 63-50 loss to Purdue in the Final Four, one superstitious Wolfpack fan was quick to take the blame.

Despite recording zero points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks in zero minutes of action, Jack Chalk told reporters that he was the reason the Wolfpack fell to the Boilermakers.

“That loss is on me,” Chalk explained. “I had a special routine throughout the Pack’s run to the Final Four that got disrupted.”

“Each game day I would listen to REM, Warren Zevon, Eminem, and Natalie Imbruglia songs. Then I always sat on the couch in my boxer briefs. I wouldn’t watch the games, but I would make sure to check the scores on my phone. I would watch either the Andy Griffith Show or Total Recall instead. To get fired up I would also pull up the Shia LaBeouf ‘Do it’ speech on YouTube.”

Chalk also made sure to call for Wolfpack Head Coach Kevin Keatts’s firing before every game, despite leading the program to its first Final Four in 41 years.

“I don’t actually want him fired now,” Chalk said. “But I sure did before they went on that nine-game winning streak. So that was part of the routine as well.”

So what was it that disrupted Chalk’s routine?

“It was cooler the night of the Purdue game, so I wore pajama pants when I sat on the couch,” Chalk confirmed.

“All that work, just to muck it up during the Final Four with pajama pants.”

The Wolfpack closes the season at 26-15, while Purdue sits at 34-4 and advances to the Championship game to face Connecticut on Monday.
